Do Nike Vapor cleats run big or small?
Beware, this cleat appears to run large (or I should say more accurate because Nike tends to run small). My son has Nike cleats in a 11.5 but will need 10.5 (his normal shoe size). Otherwise, the construction of the cleat looks very good. We're exchanging for the right size.
But studies show that finding that right combination of cleat and surface can improve your performance by up to 20%.
Verdict. The Nike Vapor Edge Elite 360 Flyknit is generally a great shoe. It is among the most comfortable football cleats out there because of its soft Flyknit upper. The soleplate delivers a pretty consistent bite, supporting quick movements in all directions.
Generally, your soccer cleats should have a snug, sock-like fit on your foot, but with enough room in the front to comfortably wiggle your toes. In well-fitting soccer shoes, you'll have freedom of movement, enhanced touch and control of the ball, and stability for your feet and ankles.
There should be enough room to wiggle your toes, while the uppers should fit snugly around your foot without slipping.
Heavy shoes slow you down by forcing you burn more energy at a given pace. But by how much, exactly? Studies dating back to the 1980s have shown that for every additional 100 grams (3.5 ounces) per shoe, you burn about 1 percent more energy.
Out route times (seconds) were significantly different between football cleats and soccer cleats. The other significant difference occurred in the perceived heaviness of each cleat. Conclusion: This study found minimal difference between football and soccer cleats in performance and perception.
If your ultimate top speed as a player is 20 mph in proper fitting, appropriate footwear then it's hugely doubtful that you will be noticeably quicker if you wear a different type of football boot, however brilliantly designed, light or well intentioned they may be.
I always go true to size with my Nike Air Vapormax! The knitted upper means they fit like a glove, so after a few wears, they really loosen up and the fit feels almost bespoke.
Go true to size, like I did with my pair of US 9.5s. For those with wide feet, I'm sorry but this boot will never be for you. The Mercurial has never been kind to those with wide feet and you might be better off with the adidas X19. 1 or Nemeziz 19.1 if you want a speed boot that can accommodate your width.
Are Nike Vaporfly true to size?
The Nike Vaporfly Next% fits true to size. I am normally a size 10 and it is perfect with medium to thin socks. There is more room in the forefoot both length and width wise than the 4% Flyknit and fits most similar to the original Vaporfly 4%. The forefoot has a wider, more anatomic shape with a snug heel and midfoot.
The Nike Vaporfly Next% 2 has a 40mm/32mm differential for an 8mm drop and fits true to size.
